On returning from our last camping trip in our 85 Westy - heard a high pitched whine coming from under the van. Did a search on the list and discovered quite a few posts noting that this may be a clogged fuel filter or a fuel pump that may be on its way out. Ordered a new fuel filter from one of our list vendors and received a Bosch metal one - apparently good. The old fuel filter that was on the Westy was plastic and square and full of rusty sediment. The filter's 'intake' line from the tank, however, appears to be 5/16" while the 'exit' line to the fuel pump is larger - possibly 7/16" or 1/2" diameter. The replacement fuel filter has two identical nipples for intake and egress - both appear to be designed for the smaller 5/16" line. Did I get the wrong filter from the vendor (Bosch #71028) or is there only a 'Universal' filter now available designed for equal diameter lines? My search of the archives didn't yield an answer. Thanks for any help. Todd Guttman 85 Westy 'Rivendell' |
