My OEM hatch struts were working fine. I bought BD "heavy duty" stuts on the endorsement Ron gave them on the list. One is now shot (doesn't seem to be holding any weight) and I'm going to try to replace it using a FLAPS strut.

However, I've bought many parts from BD and rate their products overall as very good. The quality control on these struts just doesn't seem to be consistent.
