Subject: Custom 2wd Vanagon Springs in Test Phase
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Now that the syncro spring project is pretty much wrapped up, Mark and I will be turning our attention to 2wd springs due to popular demand. We are having test springs made right now. These will be done in late October. Once these are field tested, we will do a production run with the final specs, and will hopefully have the springs in November or December. The springs will be high quality made by one of the oldest and best spring manufacturers in the world (since 1868). The first run of syncro springs have been in use for a year now and have held up very well under harsh use.

As you may be aware, VW used quite a number of different springs on the 2wd westys over the years. The older models in particular have terrible springs, especially compared to the later years. Some 2wd vans have about 1/2" of travel it seems! The springs we are having made will be based on the later, taller springs, and will be very close to stock in terms of stiffness, although slightly stiffer (like 5% or less) and slightly taller than the later year springs in order to restore the lost travel resulting from old sagging springs.

If you are possibly interested in replacement springs, let me or Mark know so we can have some idea how many people might like them. The past two spring runs we have done have sold out fairly quickly. We will keep those who express interest aprised of the status of the project. We will also let everybody know before we place the actual order. steve www.syncro.org
