Welding and drilling worn clutch pedals is a common technique for the "no longer available" MGB pedals too. It is actually better than getting a new or used pedal, the weld is harder than the steel the pedal is made of and with a little grease should never wear out.

I haven't had this done recently but will soon, what did it cost you?
