Subject: A/C Tunnel Fix
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

The A/C tunnel on my '88GL has fallen in the floor a couple of times and I have now acquired the official VW parts to fix the problem. It's comprised of two rectangular metal plates with one long edge slightly bent, plus two nuts and two washers. That's it. No Screws. And not enough nuts and washers for all the holes in the plates, which amount to two holes each. I guess VW figures we can supply our own screws.

My problem here is twofold.

One, how the devil do you install the plates. I mean how is it supposed to work. Any suggestions? Has anyone taken on this project before? Would appreciate any input.

Two, now that I have all the parts assembled before me, I realize the plastic flanges on the rearward end of the long tunnel section are all broken up. I mean they are completely gone. Doesn't seem to be anyway to repair it. So I am up for buying a replacement long tunnel section. Anyone out there have such a thing?

Appreciate any help.

TIA,

John Rodgers 88GL Driver in Alabama with no A/C!!!
