Been reading the posts re: oil lights. My '84 Westy has gone from being my daily ride to a once a week ride since I bought a '92 Jetta a month ago. Now suddenly when I crank her up, the oil light doesn't go out for the first 2 or 3 miles. My question, however, is this: the oil light does not glow brightly but only dimly, and it eventually just fades out. Does the brightness have anything to do with the degree of oil pressure? In other words, does the light glow more brightly in really BAD situations and glow less in barely bad situations? Of course, I'm hoping that the LED is just sticky from the 100% humidity we have here in Florida during rainy times (such as last weekend's Hurricane/Tropical Storm Gordon). I will have the oil pressure checked soon but right now I'm broke from working out all the bugs on the 'new' Jetta (timing belt, master cylinder, tires, ball joint....). Also, does parking the Westy on a front to back angle (not much, just a bit) for a week at a time cause bad things to happen? I could level it if necessary.
