I'm hoping you can help me with some details. I'm anticipating my return line rusting through any day now. So I'm looking into my options for replacement.

There are two different diameters depending on year? I have an '84 1.9L engine.

Does the #8024 have bends in it? Or does it flex enough to make the upward turn?

Thanks in advance, Bradley FLubacher

I ordered a cooling hose kit from a vender and recieved the wrong hose for my 85. I recived the $30 lower radiator return for the later 1.9's hose instead of the $60 hose for the earlier. Not the venders fault, my vehicle "called" for the $30 hose according to the VIN but the real world proved otherwise. The new hose fit very loose on the long return pipe end, it was even bigger than the molded lip on the pipe.

Anyway the PO had a Napa #8024 hose made in 1992 on the Radiator return that fit just excellent.

I called NAPA and they did not list any hoses for my Vanagon except the heater hoses.

I asked if they still made #8024 and they did. He could not or would not tell me what applications this hose is for.

I bought one and it is great, fits nice and snug on both ends. It has a extra small shallow S shape in it the does not affect anything.

The hose from NAPA is $17 instead of $60+.
