Do some research before you buy one of these.  Definitely join the EV
mail list to see what you are getting into.  These are expensive to buy,
and expensive to maintain.  I came close to getting one this year, but
ended up keeping the '84.  Look at some newer Vanagons first, and even
check this out for comparison:  http://www.gtrv.com/index.htm  The EVC
is "not your father's" VW, long gone is the simplicity and reliability.
If you get one buy the longest extended warranty you can!

I may end up getting a used 2000 or 2001 EVC in four or five years, but
I doubt I'd ever pay the price for a new one.

Sorry you are having so much trouble finding one, they are everywhere
here.  Carter VW in Seattle is the #1 seller of EVCs in the country, or
so they claim.  They just got 10 in this month.  Funny, they are all
white! ;-)
