AMC heads are good. I have heard people complain that the castings in the intake ports are rough. HA! Look at the casting of the VW intake port! Just as rough. I have heard that AMC bought thier castings from VW so you are basically getting the exact same castings. The nice thing about them is that they have changed the alloy that the heads are made from in order to help with the corrosion problem. I like these new heads and I have installed many sets on customer's vans, with no problems so far (I even have a set on my own '91 Vanagon and they are great). No one out there to my knowledge except AMC makes no heads for the 1.9l or 2.1l Vanagon. I sell these heads for $395 each as the List member discount. They come with new valves and new valve springs. Just FYI.
