Z products have been around for a long time. I installed a Z-bed in a '69 Kombi way back about 1975. It worked great. Later installed another one in a '82 diesel Vanagon. This one didn't work quite as well, better than nothing until I got my '87 Vanagon with the weekender package and finally the one I have now, a '90 Westy.
