I was on a trip in my 74 Passat, fitted with a 78 Fox injected engine, when
it began to sputter a bit. Eventually I stopped and opened the door to get
out, and saw a thin solid jet of liquid shooting diagonally out over a
meter from under the car. I said "What the hey?" and got out, looked under
and saw it was coming from a tiny split in the fuel line near the tank.
Probably cut by road junk thrown up by the front tire. Fortunately I had
tools and spare fuelhose along.
