Donald... What makes you think they know how to drive in Iowa City?
There are idiot drivers all over the place (I've even been one from time to
time)... it's our job to stay out of the way!

I dunno. I just last night saw a woman plow into a phone pole right next to
my car as I was sitting at a traffic light waiting to change. She left no
skid marks; I'd estimate she plowed into that phone pole at about 30-35 mph.
It looked just like the film of a crash test. I'm still not sure who to
thank for the good grace she hit the pole and not me. Now this woman gets
out of the car she's just demolished and walks away with air bag powder
burns, but that's about it. Absolutely amazing to me that she wasn't killed
instantly. This is not engineering that I think manufacturers would
voluntarily put into their mass marketed automobiles. Of course, there is
always the argument that this woman was just too stupid to live.
Anyway, I was impressed with the fact that a car can withstand an accident
like that--and I'm happy to pay for what it cost to make cars safer. Now
I'm just pissed off at that silly woman for ever getting behind the wheel.
I'd like to live long enough to at least see my move next month out of this
silly town (Atlanta) and away from all of its silly drivers.
Iowa City here I come!
And we aren't to the level of State protection the UK is at, and I hope we
never are. Seat belts are just common sense, man.
