Hi All, I picked up the air shocks yesterday, and went directly to the shop, with a mission in mind. Well, here are the results; Air shocks to fit the rear of an 86 to 90 Syncro will not fit an 83 to 85 2wd. And this is what's bizarre. The collapsed length is fine, the extended length is fine, it's the diameter that`s messing the whole deal up !! For some reason the upper and lower shock mounts are too close to the inner wheel well and the shock is too big around to clear the flange inside the wheel well. I can't believe that the syncro's shock mounts are placed that different, or that far away from the same area. Anyone out there in Vanogonite Land have an example of both Vans, who could investigate this phenomena? Please let me know, and meanwhile I'm contacting Gabriel tomorrow and try to find a smaller diameter, air shock with the same mounts, and the same lengths. Chow Chow, for now, Terry 85 GL |
