I just pulled my dash (I've done it twice before so I know the procedure) and just thought I'd note that it took me exactly two hours with my wife's help. That's with no frozen fasteners, and includes splitting the heater box (clips, not welds) in place to obviate the need for disconnecting the hoses from the heat exchanger. Immediately noticed one of the free-hanging flaps lying on the bottom of the box, which correlates with the symptom of very poor forced-air flow from the driver's-side cold-air vent (but good flow from ram air). The value of the blower resistor (someone asked recently) is 2.1 ohms, 60 watts, wirewound on a hollow ceramic core. It is tapped at 0.7 ohms for the medium fan speed. david David Beierl - Providence, RI http://pws.prserv.net/synergy/Vanagon/ '84 Westy "Dutiful Passage" '85 GL "Poor Relation" |
