Subject: fridge- I give up
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Wanted-working fridge for a '89 westy. I'm throwing in the towel on mine. The problem for those who missed my earlier postings lies with the propane burner side. It works fairly well on 110 AC and not quite as well on 12 DC but very poorly on gas. The flame is yellow, it's hard to light and eventually (after a few days) the cooling pretty much stops although it's still lit. Here's what I've tried: First I educated myself about this peculiar bit of technology to the best of my ability. Thanks to the list I now have a pretty good working knowledge of the Dometic 3-way. I also have the experience of having owned 2 other late model Westies so I'm not deluded about what to expect cooling-wise. I've replaced the burner orifice and the regulator on the tank. I've cleaned everything deemed worth cleaning. I've taken the damned thing in and out more times than I care to remember. I've turned the whole unit upside-down for a few days before reinstalling it. I even rigged up an extention gas line so I could light the thing without having it installed so I could better observe the workings of the cooling unit while it's working. Anyway, I give up. But I'm still willing to listen if anyone has advice on something I may have missed. Or if you know where I could get a good used one let me know. -Michael
