We learned last week that Stinky, our '82 diesel westy, has serious internal engine bearing issues on a rebuild less than a year old. While we work this one out, we need a point A - point B car.

Selling Stinky was, of course, not an option. The bus must be saved!

So I think we're biting the bullet and buying a new H*nda. Anonymous, plain, boring, yes. But it should be reliable, fast, and cheap to operate.

We just can't afford two cars with Stinky's "personality," but can't live without such a fun ultimate camping machine, either. Besides, the kids are nuts about the bus.

I'm reminded of an old saying: "There are two kinds of VW bus drivers: those who have dropped their engines, and those that will."

I guess I have my winter project cut out for me. I can hardly wait!

Happy wrenching!

T.
