Ben,

I had the same thoughts when I got my '85 with the little fridge. The thing is absolutely silent. When plugged in to 110V the thing actually is a fridge with a working thermostat -- makes ice the whole bit. When plugged in to the 12V there is no thermostat function and it just basically stays as cold as it can relative to the outside temperature. When we used it this summer we ran it on 12V for ten to twelve hours a day on 12V and frozen stuff stayed frozen. At night we plugged it in to 110V.

I have the Dometic (sp?) documentation that came with mine. Unfortunately I'm in Tacoma (Vanagon heaven?) and the paper is in Houston so I can't help right now. When I thought mine was busted I was pretty distressed to find out that none of the dealers in my area were still in business. If you don't have any luck shoot me a pmail after October 13.

>>Plugged it in to a 110v AC outlet and turned it on. I hear nothing. Am I supposed to? Haven't tried 12v DC yet. Why does it say 110v AC on the switch? Does this mean that there is no ON/OFF switch when you use 12v DC? Did I just buy an $40 ice bucket?

Please help. If it needs repair, can anyone direct me to a place that I can get his thing fixed?<<
