Listees,

I use the digest so this thread has probably ended, but..... I learned about por 15 while on the type2 list. It was universally accepted as being the best. Instructions must be followed! Rust must not be completely removed as some must be present for the chemical interaction (no idea how it works). A piece of plastic wrap must be placed on top of the can before the lid is replaced. That is if you want to ever remove it again.

That said, the stuff is great. I repaired floor pans in a 78 Westy. Results were great. I had actually begun to coat the entire underside of the vehicle when, unfortunately, a teenager in a high rise pickup crashed the side.

I now drive a near perfect 89 westy and have painted it on the trailing arms. It's extremely strong. Has a sort of epoxy feel after it drys. Seems semi bullet proof. Only disclaimer is that UV rays degrade it so any application exposed to sunlight must be top coated with primer and paint.

Type2 archives will probably turn up the address of a mom and pop operation in NJ that sells it $29.95 usd per quart with free shipping.

BTW, I've only purchased one quart, used it many times, have half left, and have never had any trouble with it drying out in the can. It's consistency seems to be about what it was when I bought it 3-4 years ago. Used some the other day on my commuter.

Regards,

Fred 89 westy
