There are CV boot protectors front and rear on the Volkswagen Iltis - these are more like big think flaps of rubber that sit infront of the CV joint. On one off roading excusion I took home a 2m long stick wedged under the CV protector - yep they did their job - wanna guess how much an Iltis CV joint costs?
