I finally got my 88GL van in to the local dealership - Crown VW - and they installed the kit to support the A/C tunnel and prevent it from falling from the ceiling.

It is called A/C Duct Recall SU12. Uses kit 1 200-298-001.

This is a free onetime installation. Check with your nearest VW. They can tell from your VIN # if your vehicle is elgible. Age and mileage of the vehicle does not matter. If your VIN shows your van to be elgible, then by all means take it to the dealer and let them install the kit. When they do it, the responsibility for the work and liability rests on them.

There is a break line recall as well that can be done while getting the AC taken care of. See my next post on this.

John Rodgers, 88GL Driver
