Subject: Installation of KOMBI chip
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hello to the list. I hope someone out there reading this today was part of the recent chip upgrade purchase coordinated with Robert Lilley. I was, and I have several questions regarding installation. First, I'm trying to install the chip in an 89 GL Wolfsberg automatic (mfr date: 2/89). After removing the black metal shield from the "computer" housing, I find the plastic shroud attached to the heat sink is marked "Bosch 0 261 200 065, DIGIFANT 025 906 022. I know the replacement chip was an upgrade for the DIGIFANT 022D, which is what I thought I had. However, after removing the plastic covering and loosening the top circuit board to access the chip, I find my current chip is marked with the numbers 1 267 355 501, and is noticeable shorter in length, ie number of pins, than the KOMBI chip. Did I goof and order the chip when my particular Vanagon can't use it? Am I looking at the wrong chip on the board (I don't think so from the diagram)? Help!!
