Take a look at: http://www.dmv.ca.gov/faq/osregfaq.htm#BM2559 Generally, when you register they will give your vehicle a visual inspection to make sure no smog gear has been disconnected, and you will have to pass a smog test. The smog test will be to make sure your vehicle complies with the standards for its manufacure year and type (e.g. 1989 federal) They used to have a $300 smog-impact fee for out of state vehicles, but that has been ruled unconstitutional and is no longer collected. I would put a deposit on it, have a mechanic check it out (any recommendations in the Cinci area?), give a cashier\\\\\\\'s cheque, and then drive back to the San Francisco Bay Area....probably will need chains. Anyway, comments? Thanks Carl |
