Another good one to retain is that 100 mm (i.e., 10 cm) is just about 4in. This is useful when buying European plywood which comes in 1500 mm X 1500 mm sheets. If you measure the floor of a Vanagon and the width of the area over the engine hatch, you'll find that it is sized to accommodate their plywood just as some USA vehicles are touted as being capable of handling full 4 X 8's. I came to this realization after having a millyard rip a foot off of some Baltic birch only so that I would be able to fit it into the van. After I loaded it, I stood back to admire my cleverness and kicked myself in the ass! Rich |
