Having researched the list archives I have concluded that the best course of action to fix my corroded and cracked 1.9L W/B heads is to replace them with new AMC heads rather than with weld repaired heads. But there have been reports that the valves on the AMC heads are deficient - both in terms of material hardness and valve seat geometry. So I'm asking for advise on the following questions: 1. Are either or both the intake and exhaust valves deficient? 2. If they are, what replacement valves are available that are equal to or better than OEM valves? 3. Where can they be procured? 4. Are the AMC valves geometrically and dimensionally identical to OEM valves? 5. If I upgrade the AMC valves, is a valve seat multi-angle regrind (per Bentley geometry specs) recommended? 6. Should the valve springs and retainers be upgraded as well? I know there are related questions that I didn't think of that the experts on the list would have answers for. I appreciate all the help you may offer to get my machine back on the road. Thanks Alan Smith |
