Way back in the last millennium, 1990 to be exact, my Westy was in for unrelated service at a local VW dealer, when the service manager graciously offered to replace the pop-top seals free of charge if I would pay for installation of same. Well, I gave it some thought, (about one millisecond) and, of course, I said yes. Ten years later the seals look great! That's my story. Sometimes, miracles to happen!
