U own a 84 Vanagon GL with a mix of old school in it. I installed a 1967 camper interior (the passenger side cabinet, fold down bench seat , and fold down table) that i scored out of a junk yard bus. Lots of cleaning and new vinyl paint makes it the coooolest over any formica euro trash interior. My question is this. The star lever protruding from the four speed tranny has worn down, making the attachment to the mating starred ball joint sloppy. The rest is all attached to the shift rods and then the lever. I want to fix it to make the shifting TIGHT!! My optionis could be 1) replcing the entire tranny with a junkyard tranny (cond. unknown but for $300), 2)purchasing the part from the dealer ($235) and having someone install it (mo' $), or 3) geting a five speed to fit in the van. Can this last option be done without modifications? IF mods. are needed, what might I have to do? And lastly, where could I get a five speed tranny? _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
