It's always a risk buying parts for future use. Especially if you have a project, limited funds and a rare and necessary item is available long before it can be used.

This is the case with my SVX engine, bought over a year before I'll be able to install it (though the previous owner will probably buy it back if necessary). Also the stereo and probably the Porsche G50 transmission once I actually order it (mind, this last will come from overseas so any warranty will be useless anyway).

The 915 Porsche trans I brought in from LA proved to be missing 3rd & reverse and some release arm bits, despite the owner telling me it was in good condition. However I sold it days after advertising it, to someone I told all the problems and repair estimate to. He paid what I asked, basically what I paid for it including shipping.

Just a risk we take.
