Subject: Deck lid insulation plastic sheeting
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

The deck lid over the engine in our 82 westy has a layer of OE insulation on it (to prevent excessive heat transfer to the cabin I suppose). The insulation is held in place by a sheet of clear plastic that in turn is held in place by some springy clip-like devices. The plastic sheeting is torn on about 1/4 of the surface area and insulation is being sucked into the heating system and blown out into the cabin through the heater vents. It has been suggested that I buy another self adhesive product with a metal foil backing often used in 'hot rods' or race cars, etc, and custom cut it to fit the deck lid. I have two questions, 1) is there a replacement for the plastic, it seems less trouble and more true to the OE to replace the clear plastic, my concern is the amount of heat in the engine compartment 2) anybody know where I can get this self adhesive stuff?
