I always ask the dealer for a discount and they always give something. For transmission parts (3-4 hub slider etc.) they offered me jobber prices which meant that it all ended up a bit less than mail ordering away to one of the list specialists, and no freight charges. For big ticket parts it seems the dealer has a lot of discretionary latitude in what price schedule they apply. I don't even know any of the dealer parts guys, I don't go there very often. Just ask, you would be surprised.
