Obviously you live in a temperate clime. Those of us prone to freezing know that this is a certain recipie for the kind of stuck-at-full-throttle disaster that a frozen accelerator cable can cause.

If you haven't already, replace yours with a newer one, as they have been re-designed with a teflon-coated cable that is much less prone to binding and freezing as the old ones.
