Subject:      A/C 50 amp term fix

It's getting a little late in the season for this (but not here in Arizona)
tip. A while back, the plastic block (located behind the rear cabinet)
holding one end of the 50 amp fuse for the A/C overheated and melted a
little and the terminal  fell out. While using a work-around to get the A/C
running again I was trying to figure out a solution.
Finally, it hit me, if heat made it fall out, heat should make it go back
in. The plastic wasn't completely melted, but neither would the brass
terminal fit in it. I put the screw in the block and aligned it where it was
supposed to go and applied a soldering gun to the screw head. After about a
minute, it started to sink back into place. Actually, it sank a little lower
than originally, but it is solid and with a new, correct fuse, works fine.
I also put a new terminal on the end of the wire and soldered it on, and try
to limit the use of the fan on high speed, which is when it really heats up.
Lastly, I cut a small hole in the panel that covers all of this and put a
piece of plexiglass
over it so I can keep an eye on it.
