I've installed two sets of front and rear pipes purchased from the Bus Depot in the last six months on two '84 Vanagons (one with a 2.1 engine) and found the following:

Both fit onto the heads with minimal fussing, but both front pipes were slightly short of meeting up with the J-pipe and had a slight angle on the mating flanges. This was accomodated for by using two gaskets on this joint along with a smear of high temp silicone between them. The rear pipe lined up perfectly. At least they seem to be consistent, if not perfect!

After 9,000 miles two of the tabs welded on the flanges for the support brackets on one of the rear pipes cracked and broke off. I rewelded them.

I would order an extra two-hole gasket along with the front pipe, and beef up the welds on those support bracket flanges before installation next time.

All in all, these are well worth the price. Only stainless would be better, but 3X the cost (if it existed for the 1.9) is a big jump in cost. -- Stuart MacMillan Seattle
