Subject: 78 Adventurewagen Camper 4 Sale - ONLY 27,000 miles!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8"

I’m selling (reluctantly) a wonderful VW Camper because the computer I use in my home business melted down ... and replacing it means selling this car which is my only non-daily driver. Here are the specs:

1978 VOLKSWAGEN CAMPER 'ADVENTUREWAGEN' Conversion with ONLY 27,000 ORIGINAL MILES!!! ‘High-top’ roof with ventilated windows, sleeps 4, seats 5, has room to stand inside. Propane Stove, Electric Fridge, auxiliary Propane Heater, teak wood trim. Pull-out am/fm stereo. Nearly new 6 ply tires. 2.0 litre fuel injected engine (with valve lifters); engine, transmission & brakes in excellent condition. This is an original California vehicle which spent its last few years in Portland, Oregon. Its only defect: VW dealer-installed A/C system is currently inoperable (probably needs a new compressor). There is minor surface rust at the edge of the rear engine compartment.

This is far and away the nicest, cleanest, tightest, best-driving Type 2 VW Camper I've ever seen. Astounding as it may seem the mileage (27,000 miles) is REAL. (It was originally owned by a couple who purchased it in Northern Calif, drove it a few years, then garaged it for a dozen years before giving it to their adult children, who did the same thing...drove it on and off...but kept it garaged most of the time.) It's been impeccably maintained throughout its lifetime (I have ALL records for the car); with only 27K miles, it's close to being the newest car I have ever owned. It feels so 'new' and 'clean' that when you're driving it, you occasionally feel you've been caught in a time machine. The only comparable late 70's campers I saw which were in almost as nice shape both had 150K plus miles on them, rebuilt engines, etc.; this camper has nothing rebuilt, its all new, clean and low-mileage.

I know, I know, I'm a fool to sell it. But dire financial necessity has raised its ugly head and I really don't have a choice.

My asking PRICE is $6950. (This is basically what I paid for it, minus plane fare to fly in to get it, and minus another chunk for the then non-operable 2nd battery, which I've since replaced.)

The vehicle is located in Southern Oregon; I’m willing to deliver it in Oregon, Washington, or Northern California. I can email photos on request.
