Hello everyone! If I'm coming down a hill and I let off the gas almost entirely, I sometimes get a real loud POOF!, sometimes 2-3 times. My exaust system does have a couple holes in it. It does need to be replaced... But I suspect this should happen at all. I thought maybe I should check my timing. I don't have a timing light. But if enough of you fine vanagon mailing list folks suggest this might be a problem, that would be good enough reason for me to go and buy one. My father suggests that the holes in the exhaust system are just making it sound louder, and it's really nothing to worry about. I just keep visualizing a backfiring that's making this poof! sound, and putting stress on my heads. Input? Thanks, Bradley Flubacher State College, PA '84 waterboxer |
