Well I think NOSE RID is very fitting for the Vanagon, since after all, the primary seating is in the front. The one thing I miss in my '90 vs. my '82 Vanagon and earlier breadloaf buses is the loss of the overhead storage locker (now air conditioner). I always wired the door open (horizontal) such that the nose of the boards would fit inside the compartment, and bungee the tail sections to the pop-top cross members. Worked great for gun boards up to 8'6", if I cut a hole in the back of the cabinet -- nose just touched the glass of the hatch, fins just grazing the neck of the passenger :-) I have so little need for AC, I'm seriously considering removing the whole AC unit and building a cabinet to hold up to four shortboards *inside* and out of the way. Anyone on the list ever removed the AC unit and built their own version of the storage cabinet?

See you out there!
