Subject: syncro conversion, syncro westy cost and/or availability?
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi -

Newbie questions here. Please accept my apologies in advance for any list etiquette infractions.

I've had my eye on Syncro Westy's for several years and am now getting a bit more serious about acquiring one. My wife and my two sons, aged 2 and 4, and I are thinking about a couple of months on the road next summer. The Syncro Westy seems like the ideal vehicle for carrying the family, the dog, a canoe and some bikes to wherever we decide we want to go.

My questions: Does anyone know of one of a Syncro Westy for sale? In the US or Canada would be most convenient, but I would be willing to look into shipping one here from elsewhere.

Since these are fairly rare vehicles has anyone heard of adding the Syncro 4WD to a 2WD Westy? Any details concerning where to get parts, where to get the work done, and cost would be appreciated.

What should I expect to spend on a Syncro Westy? I realize there must be a huge price range. I'm thinking about a good condition, clean vehicle. It could need a little work, as long as the body wasn't all rusted out. I'd even go for a blown engine or failed tranny, or both.

tia,

Kevin Camden, ME
