I just went through a Westy search. Prices seem to range from $9000 - $24000 if you are looking for late models or Syncro Westy's. They are out there. I just missed a Syncro Westy last year with 84,000 miles for $3500. It had a new tranny and they blew the motor the year before. It got parked in the barn and they went and bought a new Suburban and decided they wanted the vanagon gone. Autotrader.com will let you do a nationwide search which is a really good way to locate some as well as get a feel for pricing. When looking you should be ready to buy. Good deals on these do not last long. In one weekend I missed two buy simply hesitating a little. It worked out well as we are happy with what we ended up with. Good luck in your search, Craig the Gorge VW club
