Subject: How can I remove the ignition lock cylinder from my '90 Westy?

Yet another journey to protect my van from the thief who has already stolen my wife's car and is in possession of a key to my 1990 Westy Multivan:

I've ordered a new ignition lock cylinder and would like to install it in the next few days. Has anyone recently removed an ignition lock cylinder in a late model Vanagon recently? I need to know how to removed the existing cylinder. Will I need to drill a hole to access the release button? Will I need to take the cover off of the plastic housing surrounding the steering wheel?
