I look forward to responses on this as well since my Thule rack is now idle since I put the poptop on the GL. Some of our friends have mounted a C- channel on the poptop hinges, which I thought was clever and strong.

I guess you could just put something similar near the front, perhaps using the poptop leg hole if it's the right height (haven't investigated) and spread out the force with sufficient small bolts through the fiberglass.
