Since the US is the country that puts its military on the line, and provides the majority of the firepower to keep the oil rich countries in line, it only seems fair that prices would be lower here. Of course we pay for the gallon of gas in a lot of 'hidden' ways that perhaps others don't. Some reports say a gallon of gas costs an american citizen as much as $15 when all the costs are folded in.

Its stupid to think that a gallon of gasoline from the other side of the world, and how many feet deep, could arrive here and cost less than a gallon of milk from that 'cow across the street' :-)

The next time someone posts about gas prices, maybe send along a meaningful number, which would be the cost of the gas before taxes. Here in the states, the taxes are noted right on the pump, so it would be easy to pass along from here. How about other countries? Do they let you know up front?

I am paying about $1.70 for cheap 85 octane, of which 47 cents is taxes, so its $1.20, more or less for the fuel.

When a list member buys a Vanagon and tells us how much, or when there is one for sale, we get the price, but no one lists the cost including sles tax, so lets keep the apples off of the orange trees, or something like that :-)

Thanks for the space on Friday.

Regards from Utah, the next place to be trashed by the Olympics :(

John
