Hi Calle, Watch the tach as you are cranking. It is an excellent tool. It should twitch every time the digifant pulses the coil. If you don't see it twitch check for 12 volts on both the plus and minus terminal. The coil voltage comes from the ignition key being on. If it is twitching install a spark plug on the coil secondary (high voltage lead) and grounded to the engine. The plug should have fire, or the coil is very suspect. Midwesty

ps. Your memories of carbs are better than mine.

Hi all ! I have a slight problem that has occured every now and then almost since I bought the Vanagon ! It has a Digifant FI, and I´m not a big fan of FI systems unless they work properly but laws and regulations won´t let me put a carb. on the Van, so I guess there is no turning back, I have to start to learn to work on it even though I´m not too sure that the problem is right there this time ;) Anyway When the weather gets wet, foggy, cold or in any other way unpleasant to be working on your car , the liittle green monster sometimes refuses to start :( The starter engine is working OK , the smell of gas is standing all over the neigbourhood but no spark ! And as I stated above, it´s been going on the whole time, I changed plugs, cables and cap right after I bought it, then TII sensor, airfilter , sprayed every connection I could find with wd40, checked the groundings and so on... Am I overlooking anything ? There has been a lot of discussions lately about coils, are these weak and likely to stop working ?? Or could it be the AFM or idlestabilizer that´s malfunctioning ?? I´ll be at it as soon as possible, with yet another portion of electronics spray and maybe plugs and wires again but if any of you has a great idea, even if not the whole solution, it would be appreciated

Cheers Calle -88 Vanagon Mullhyttan, Sweden
