My reasons are two fold:

1. I dislike greatly any vehicle of mine that has all that gap atop the tire. My general plans are anti low profile; Wide, tall sidewall tires that fill the wheel well without rubbing. Rim size generally 16" & under. Modern materials/ designs make a taller tire not as much a liability as in the recent past.

2. Lowering (usually) increases the ability to go around a corner and not tip over. This is a rule of thumb that has some rules and can back fire if pushed too far. Also a lowered suspension may be harsher which can be offset by a larger tire. (See above)

3. Bonus reason at no extra charge, don't have to climb up so far to get in. ;)
