Subject: exciter circut, alternator?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hello Vanagon folks, My local electrician put a testing device on the circut to the alternator after I complained of intermittent flashing of the 2 red lights on the panel. He said that the alternator was fine, but the power to the "exciter circut" was shorting out. I checked the fuses and replaced the 25 amp fuse which seemed to have been deformed by over heating. The problem has not gone away. Which fuse goes to this circut that he is refering to? Where is the wire located in the van, and what should I do next to solve the problem?

Many thanks Jeff Hartman
