RE:Safe RPM'sThe real variable here is the speedo.  Accuracy seems to vary alot.  Are you really doing 60 MPH?  Try comparing to a measured mile (those little numbered posts alongside the interstates).  Before our tire swap, I discovered that an indicated 70 MPH, was actually more like 65MPH.   Regarding the tach, the green area is the where the engine is "happiest" making useable power.  The area above green and below red is not dangerous, it's just not  the best choice.  It is true however that the faster she spins, the more stress and wear she sees.
