I am hoping that some one here can point me in the right direction.

My '87 Vanagon (gas) has developed a strange idle. When stooped at a light the idle will start to waver a little then it gets a little rough. When you step on the gas to go it acts as if the engine is straved for fuel or perhaps flooded. It has now power and if you let off on the gas it alright then in a minute (or less) the thing starts to run great the power is back, etc. It doesn't miss and other then the idle, it runs great.

When you first start it up in the morning, it doesn't do this for the first couple of miles.

I am thinking that it's the fuel filter but, then again maybe it's a sensor that is making it run rich. Their is no smoke or any thing from the exaust.

Could some one shed a little light here, please.

Chris
