Hi Chris, a turn key installation with the items that you have mentioned
would run approx. $15,500.00. This is based on a good condition used 911/
3.2 Carrera engine, your van/ transaxle, our conversion kit and labor. An
overhauled 911/ 3.2 engine would add $5,000.00 to the cost. A new factory
engine would be cost prohibitive.
To add the G50/ and related 930cv joints/axles/ front mount shift
mechanism/ console would run approx. $ 5,000.00 ( good/ used G50) . An
overhauled G50 would add $2,500.00 to the cost. A new factory G50 would be
cost prohibitive. Installation times are 60 hours R & R (conversion) and 40
hours (G50). I would estimate approx one month at our installers facility.
Thank you for your inquiry,
msdsinc.

I am considering a 911 engine swap for my 1980 Westy. I was wondering what
you'd charge for a turn key motor (i.e.: installed by you in the van)? For
pricing you can assume I'll need a:
3.2 Carrera engine
4 tip muffler
Oil tank rock guard
Tachometer recalibration (I have an instrument cluster from a newer westy)
Front oil cooler system
DME electronics
oil tank and accessories
rubber engine mounts
I also may want to go with the Porsche G50 transmission so I may need the
G50 front transaxle-to-frame mount and shift rod adapter. I heard that
otherwise I'm looking at a transmission rebuild every 18 months. I guess I'd
want to know how much extra the G50 would be. Also, how long would it take
assuming I dropped it off at your shop in California?
Thanks,
