Marshall,
I had one in my Syncro Westy and it was amazing.
Also very good for winter camping, it kept the coolant at 80 deg. C as well
as allowed the use of the heater fans front and rear.
The bad news is I sold the camper to a Doctor in California.
Good news is that Webasto still makes these type of heaters. The web site for
Webasto is <http:///.www.webasto.de>
They are quite popular on Big rigs and are used to heat the sleeper box
,motor and battery box while the engine is shut down. The truckers I have
talked to swear by them.
They refer to them as the "hot box" .
A lot of Canadian military vehicles use them include in the Leopard Main
Battle Tank.
The one in the Leopard uses 5L/hr though, but does it ever put out the heat!
5L is not much when you have a 1000L on board.
It is also capable of preheating 165L of engine coolant to operating temp in
1/2hr at -40 deg.C
Engine coolant changes sure use up the coolant, although it is less work and
trouble than a Vanagon.
Cheers
Glen
