Why get the 2.5 when you can get the 3.2? My Vanagon source in Europe tells me that 2.5's go for about $2000-$4000 US funds. #.2's generally start at $7000-$10,000. He also added that they have the same problems we have on the 2.1 & 1.9 heads. Could be. Afterall the heads use the same hardware plus the same head stud attachment as the four bangers. In other words, they get broken studs just as frequently. Then when you do crack a head, you better find a competent welder because replacement heads are nearly impossible to find. With that kind of money, you'd be better off getting Porsche power and Porsche parts availability. Not to mention the cache' of having a PanzerWagen. Per the same fellow, the rage in Europe is (Diesel) TDI. They get so much torque out of them that the Vanagon racers in Nurburgring this year were breaking transaxles all day long without the engines missing a beat. BenT San Francisco PS: I'm pretty sure I can get you a source for the engines if you really insist. |
