I believe that the problem with GL5 is overrated...many vanagons have had that incorrect oil in them for many moons with no obvious problems...I highly recomend the Redline as a permanent oil...anything will work on a temporary basis...I often tell customers that the best possible thing to do is to put a cheaper synthetic in and then change the oil 1000 Mi after a rebuild and THEN put the good stuff in there.
