Dear List,


A few days ago someone wrote asking for suggestions on how to approach a
heater blower problem, wondering whether it was hard to get at etc.


My *strong* suggestion is to try replacing the large relay above the fuse box
that controls the blower motor. It is a quick, easy and cheap fix. Don't
start dismantling the dash (a day's work) until your sure the relay is not
the source of the problem.


On two occasions this year aging relays have caused weird electrical problems
in my 83.5. First it was the blower motor, then it was the windshield wiper
motor. Since replacing the relays I have had no problems.  (Except that the
blower doesn't blow much air, but that's another story!)
